TYR Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet
This past weekend was the TYR Fran Crippen Memorial SMOC. It is a special meet to all swimmers there because it pays tribute to the late Fran Crippen. This was my first time swimming at the meet and first time since the Austin Grand Prix in January that I have had a chance to race.
After a sluggish start in the 100 Free, where I took 2nd behind Nathan Adrian, I was able to come home with a 1st place finish and meet record in the 200 Free. It had been a long week, with a long trip to NYC and back, so I am very happy with my swims.
My 100 free was not my best swim, but I am still growing in this event. A time of 49.68 is very good for right now, but I would have liked to of been faster. The following day, on my 24th birthday, I claimed the 200 Free title with a time of 1:48.25, breaking the meet record of 1:49.03 held by Brent Hayden. It was a great way to end the meet and am very happy with that time for where I am at this point in my season!
I want to say thanks to all the fans and volunteers at the meet this past weekend. After my 200 free the entire crowd sang happy birthday for me while on the awards stand. It made being at a swim meet during my birthday well worth it!
